OUR BOARD

The newly elected leadership team are young, vibrant and based all over regional WA.  Tony Black was re-elected as State President with overwhelming support from members.  Three other existing board members were also re-elected - Catherine Cova of Moora, John Paul Collins of Katanning and Chad Mills of Quairading. The new faces  on the WAFRY State Board are Emma Budd of Geraldton, Callie Ferrari of Pickering Brook, Susan Hodgkiss and Perry Hodgkiss, both of Bruce Rock and Davina Cook of Moora.

The Management Board of WAFRY, through its Constitution and incorporation, is ultimately responsible for all aspects of management within the organisation. In today's world, board members must have a full understanding of the roles, responsibilities and obligations of being board members - WAFRY undertakes regular training to ensure this occurs and works hard to ensure our operating procedures are in line with best governance practice.

The WAFRY Board are guided by the Associations Act and internal documents such as the WAFRY Policy & Procedures Manual when undertaking their duties. For a copy of the board Code of Conduct, click HERE.

John Paul Collins, 28
Katanning

I am originally from Mt Barker and currently work in Katanning on reclaiming salt affected land.  I have been involved in Rural Youth since 2003, when I helped to re-establish the Katanning Club. In 2005, I was an outgoing exchangee to Tasmania where I attended the Tasmanian Rural Youth run “AGFEST” and was hosted by different clubs across the state.  I am the immediate past president of WA Rural Youth and my main role on the board is providing support, mentorship and guidance to the existing board.  I also hold the Property portfolio.  I am pleased to be able to stay around on the board amongst some younger, new and energetic people and look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead.

I live in Moora and work at the local Rabobank branch as a Finance Officer.  I have just recently returned to the bank from an eight month stint training and competing Event Horses for a living.  I have ridden horses since I was little, attending the local Pony Club until I was in my early 20's and then later at Bindoon Range Pony Club.  I have competed in the sport of Eventing both on a Pony Club level as a junior and then officially as a senior rider. I have been a RY member since the 2006 Convention

Perry Hodgkiss, 27
Bruce Rock

I grew up in Brookton but have been a BK local for the last 5 years. I have recently finished up working in mining exploration to move back to Bruce Rock and take up a position at Bruce Rock Engineering. I am brand new on the WAFRY board this year (2008). My main aim is to get the 2009 National Convention cracking.

Perry Hodgkiss

Susan Hodgkiss, 25
Bruce Rock

Originally from Merredin, I moved to Bruce Rock with my husband Perry in 2003. I worked as Registrar of Muntagin P.S. until it's closure in 2005. I have spent many years working at the BK sample hut during those hot dry Wheatbelt harvests until recently going away with Perry on our mining exploration jobs. I am now glad to be home and have just taken up a position with the newly opened BK Bendigo Bank. I am really looking forward to bringing some new ideas to the WAFRY board and hope to get lots more new faces invovled.
